Bridgeport Elementary’s After School Club has been enticing students to learn new skills and strengthen their existing core skills for a number of years. Thanks to funding from the Foundation, Bridgeport continues to build on this successful program, helmed by Sue Wilcock, program coordinator.
“The program gives kids a reason to want to come to school,” Sue said.
“Particularly for those who struggle, it can be hard to keep students engaged. When they have an After School Club at the end of the school day, it gives them something to look forward to all day long, and can motivate them to actually want to come to school each day. This can have a positive impact on their educational experience as a whole.”
Fourth grader Maci Fidura was in Choir Club and exclaimed,
“I loved this club and can’t wait to do it again next year!”
