Mental health?
It’s emotional, psychological and social well-being.
It affects how our students think, feel and act.
And helps determine how they handle stress.
Our kids’ mental health needs your support.
They are experiencing anxiety first brought on by online learning, and now fueled by omicron. Feelings of isolation when activities, sports and get togethers were cancelled or severely limited are still lingering.
And they’re still questioning their ability due to distance learning circumstances that were out of their control but affected their learning. Including tech problems; unstable internet; numerous interruptions in a busy household; minimum home support due to work schedules, language barriers or lack of familiarity with the curriculum.
And social media has brought on struggles with self-confidence. Especially if bullying is involved.
The gap is the rising need for support outpacing what our dedicated teachers are already providing.
How Will Your Donation Help?
By funding more part-time teachers in all 16 district schools.
They will help:
by being present and creating relationships that our kids can find comfort in.
by offering tools for kids to recognize when they feel anxious, sad, angry or lack confidence – and how to get through the moment.
build self-esteem by teaching at a different pace in small groups; by helping students be successful, one day at a time.
Help bridge the gap.
Ask your employer if they can match, or offer their own support.
