C. Pedersen, Templeton’s FTTS-funded Instructional Assistant supporting the second grade reading effort with small group instruction.
Interim Templeton Principal, Sue Scott’s, Update on FTTS Use of Funds
In education, the most impactful resource that directly supports student achievement is people.
At Templeton Elementary School this year, we used our foundation dollars to hire an additional Instructional Assistant to support the core reading program in our second grade. This Instructional Assistant is being used to specifically to address the learning gaps second grade students are experiencing that came about largely due to the pandemic and the resulting distance learning. The IA is able to provide extra practice in small groups and, at times, one to one.
In addition, having another person who can offer a connection and support in ways outside of academics, definitely has an impact on the ability for students to be more successful at school. We are so grateful for the hard work that the foundation engages in to afford us the opportunity to serve our students in a very targeted and effective way.”
