Packed with Pride

The Foundation's food support program serving Tigard-Tualatin School District families

Pre-made boxes filled with a variety of perishable and shelf-stable foods are distributed on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 5 pm – 7:30 pm. Pickup is located at the Tigard Swim Center parking lot that is connected to Tigard High School. Boxes are available to families registered with Packed with Pride.

Boxes are designed to feed a family of 5 for two weeks.

Culturally relevant and dietary concerns are addressed, as budget and availability of items permit.

Know of anyone that can use support – short-term or long-term? Have them call their local school and ask for the Family Partnership Advocate to register with PWP.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart and soul of PWP, performing the weekly tasks to provide food for our kids. Including picking up grocery store donations, unloading delivery trucks, taping boxes, restocking, cleaning, filling more than 600 boxes with food, loading cars on pick-up days, coordinating food drives and making home deliveries to families challenged with transportation.

Donations

Donated funds provide PWP flexibility to buy foods not easily donated, but that are important to a well-rounded offering. Especially for those with food allergies and cultural restrictions. High priority purchases are: milk, butter, eggs, fresh fruits & vegetables, meat/poultry/fish, dairy alternatives and culturally relevant foods such as tortillas, short grain rice and halal protein.

Funds are invested into supplies and equipment needed to keep the program going. Donations are important to the maintenance of our refrigerator and freezer units, and truck rental used to deliver pallets of food.
